【摘要】:Anadequatelydesignedandinstalledsurfaceprotectionsystemwillmitigatetheconsequencesofnaturallyormancauseddamageswhichcouldotherwiseoccurandresultineitherchangestothedata,orcompletelossofthemonitoringwell.Theextentofapplicationofthispracticemaydependupontheimportanceofthemonitoringdata,costofmonitoringwellreplacement,expectedordesignlifeofthemonitoringwell,thepresenceorabsenceofpotentialrisks,andsettingorlocationofthewell.Monitoringwellsurfaceprotectionshouldbeapartofthewelldesignprocess,andinstallationoftheprotectivesystemshouldbecompletedatthetimeofmonitoringwellinstallationanddevelopment.Informationdeterminedatthetimeofinstallationoftheprotectivesystemwillformabaselineforfuturemonitoringwellinspectionandmaintenance.Additionally,elementsoftheprotectionsystemwillsatisfysomeregulatoryrequirementssuchasforprotectionofnearsurfacegroundwaterandwellidentification.1.1Thispracticeidentifiesdesignandconstructionconsiderationstobeappliedtomonitoringwellsforprotectionfromnaturalandmancauseddamageorimpacts.1.2Theinstallationanddevelopmentofawellisacostlyanddetailedactivitywiththegoalofprovidingrepresentativesamplesanddatathroughoutthedesignlifeofthewell.Damagestothewellatthesurfacefrequentlyresultinlossofthewellorchangesinthedata.Thisstandardprovidesforaccesscontrolsothattamperingwiththeinstallationshouldbeevident.Thedesignandinstallationofappropriatesurfaceprotectionwillmitigatethelikelihoodofdamageorloss.1.3Thispracticemaybeappliedtoothersurfaceorsubsurfacemonitoringdevicelocations,suchaspiezometers,permeameters,temperatureormoisturemonitors,orseismicdevicestoprovideprotection.1.4Thispracticeoffersasetofinstructionsforperformingoneormorespecificoperations.Thisdocumentcannotreplaceeducationorexperienceandshouldbeusedinconjunctionwithprofessionaljudgment.Notallaspectsofthispracticemaybeapplicableinallcircumstances.ThisASTMstandardisnotintendedtorepresentorreplacethestandardofcarebywhichtheadequacyofagivenprofessionalservicemustbejudged,norshouldthisdocumentbeappliedwithoutconsiderationofaproject'smanyuniqueaspects.Theword"Standard"inthetitleofthisdocumentmeansonlythatthedocumenthasbeenapprovedthroughtheASTMconsensusprocess.
